TO THE MEMORY OF TER
Friends, colleagues and authors of “Drouzba Narodov” are remembering Leonid Aramovich Terakopyan at the anniversary of his decease.
MAKSUD IBRAGIMBEKOV. Without the Right of Appeal. Chronicles of the transitional period.
Do you know that one kilogram of saffron costs more than one kilogram of gold? And its price doesn’t change in time. It’s not for nothing that the protagonist of “the chronicles” comes to the conclusion: the main reason for the general lie, mutual distrust and group poaching is concealed in… saffron. And it’s useless to try to struggle against it.
MIKHA MOSULISHVILY. Two short stories.
Though the Georgian prosaist defines the genres of his stories differently – a novel in “bop” style and a mennipea — in essence they are both two short novellas. Different are the scenes and times of action — today’s Georgia and Italy of the time of the World War II; different are the characters and narrative intonations, but common is that the characters take moves unexpected for nearly everybody and collisions are settled in mostly unexpected way: in jazz style of “bop” — and in literary style of minnepea.
In the poetical section of this issue lyrical and philosophical poems by the authors of different generations are presented: OVANES GRIGORYAN and GEVORG GUILANTZ from Armenia and OTIA IOSELIANI from Georgia. Each of them comes to the readers with his own theme and his own vision of the incognizable Universe which is called — the Man.
