Метафизические фотографии Габриэле Кроппи
Gabriele Croppi was born in Domodossola, Italy on 9th May 1974.
To his inborn passion for painting that of photography has been added over the years. For years he dedicated himself to reporting, working in the Balkans, in Amazonia and other places in Latin- American areas. At the same time, during the 1990s he developed a centralized research on the relationship between photography and other forms of art, from painting (“Guernica 2000”, 1999; “Omaggio to Sironi” 2007), to literature (research work inspired by poetry of J.L.Borges and Fernando Pessoa, 1998-2004), and to cinema (“Visioni”, 2006-2007).
Among his most recent works there is the series “Horror vacui” (2008) and a research on the theme of “Post memoria” (2008) on re-visiting Holocaust areas. In 2011 he was chosen to be part of a team of twelve European photographers (in the context of the project “European Exhibition Award”) asked to interpret the concept of “European identity” for a series of exhibitions in Hamburg, Lucca, Paris and Oslo. At present he is living and working in Milan, Italy in the editorial field, also dedicating himself to teaching at the Istituto Italiano di Fotografia.
