Summary
The poetry section of the issue presents poems by Alexander Shatalov, Sergei Zolotussky, Larisa Rumarchuk and Dmitry Avaliani.
We are publishing the narrative “Episodes of Life in a Remote Place” by Oleg Larin, the narrative “A Wedding Beyond the Bug” by Anton Utkin and short stories by Andrei Volos.
In the section “New Translations” we are continuing to publish the novel “Morbus Kitahara” by Christoph Ransmayr (translation from German by N. Fedorova).
The notes “Culture, Democracy and Totalitarianism” by Sergei Zalygin occupy the section “Publicistics”.
In the section “Far Nearness” we are publishing the article “Grain Under Bolsheviks” by V. Popov.
The section “Les Essais” is presented by the essay “A Master of Delft” by Alexander Kushner.
In the section “Literary Criticism” we are publishing the articles “Azolsky and His Characters” by Nikita Yeliseyev about Anatoly Azolsky’s prose, “Clownery and Fight Against Tyranny: a Mortal Feat” by Alexei Smirnov about Arkady Belinkov’s works, as well as the polemical notes “What’s Gertrude for Him?” by Andrei Vasilevsky.
The issue also presents our traditional sections “Reviews” and “Bibliography”.
