SUMMARY
The poetry section of the issue presents poems by Vladimir Kornilov, Genrikh Sapgir, Semen Grinberg, Elmira Kotlyar and Mikhail Kravtsov.
We are finishing to publish the novel «Medea and Her Children» by Ludmila Ulitskaya (the beginning in No. 3). The issue also presents «The Trap», a novel by Sergei Yakovlev.
In the section «New Translations» we continue publishig of the novel «Heaven Is My Destination» by American novelist Thornton Wilder, translated by A. Gobuzov (beginning in Nos. 2 and 3).
The section «Publicistics» is occupied by the essay «Different Russians» by Yevgeny Starikov.
In the section «Diaries. Memoirs» we are beginning to publish the diaries of 1953 — 1974 by literary critic Igor Dedkov (to be ended in No. 5).
The section «Publications and Reports» presents the material «Yashka Koshelek and Vladimir Lenin» by Vitaly Shentalinsky, based on the KGB’s archives.
In the section «Literary Criticism» we are publishing the essay «Muzhiks and Barins. An Old Theme and New Literature» by Pavel Basinsky and the one by Tatyana Kasatkina on «male» and «female» literature.
Valery Senderov critically analyses Patriarch Tikhon’s new biography in the section «By the Way».
In the section «Book Review» Vladimir Slavetsky reviews a novel by Pavel Aleshkovsky; Tatyana Kazarina writes on the prose by Gennady Golovin; Oleg Mramornov reviews the collected articles by Nikolay Bakhtin; Yuri Kublanovsky rewiews the collection devoted to philosopher G. Shpet.
In the section «Briefly About Books» Andrey Vasilevsky reviews narratives by Igor Gergenreder; Galina Bashkirova reviews a novel by Anna Levina; Dmitry Bak reviews novelties of philological literature.
The issue also presents our traditional sections «Bookshelf» and «Periodics».
