SUMMARY
The poetry section of the issue presents poems by Aleksandr Kushner, Yuri Kublanovsky and Vera Pavlova.
We are beginning to publish the family chronicle «Medea and Her Children» (to be ended in No. 4), as well as the short stories «Mimosa in the North» by Fazil Iskander and «The Dolt» by Pavel Meilakhs.
We continue publishing of the novel «Heaven Is My Destination» by American novelist Thornton Wilder, translated by A. Gobuzov (beginning in No. 2, to be ended in No. 4).
The section «Publicistics» presents the memoirs «My Chernobyl» by A. Borovoy with a preward by Sergei Zalygin.
In the section «Writer’s Diary» we are publishing an essay by young prosaist Vladimir Berezin, «About Tvardovsky».
The section «Publications and Reports» is occupied by literary man G. Rochko’s correspondence with V. Rozanov and A. Tvardovsky.
The section «Literary Criticism» presents the article «The Mohicans» by V. Serdyuchenko on new prose works by Leonid Leonov, Vasil Bykov, Vasily Aksenov, Vladimir Voinovich.
Reflections by Aleksandr Arkhangelsky, «The Classics of a School Rank», can be found in the section «By the Way».
In the section «Book Review» Aleksey Kozyrev reviews a new edition by Russian philosopher Yevgeny Trubetskoy; Aleksandr Dobrokhotov reviews the book «Proust» by philosopher Merab Mamardashvili; Dmitry Kharitonovich reviews collected works by philosopher Ernst Troeltsch; Igor Kuznetsov reviews an essay on Slavonic mythology.
In the section «Editor’s Mail» Lilia Pann (USA) writes about the poetry by Aleksey Tsvetkov.
The issue also presents our traditional sections «Foreign Books About Russia», «Bookshelf» and «Periodics».
