We begin the publication of part II by Victor Astafyev’s military novel, “Cursed and Murdered” (to be continued in No 11 and 12); an adventure story by Alexander Ghernitsky, “Capable of Anything”, is also being published.
In the section “Times and Manners” there is Mark Kostrov’s material “Variations of the Transitional Period”.
In the section “Religion and Modern World” deacon Andrey Kurayev in his article “Temptations of the Latest Fashion” gives a critical analysis of Elena Rerikh’s religions views.
In “Diaries. Memoirs” publication of “The Children of Utopia” is finished (begun in No 9).
In “The Writer’s Diary” yon can find Alexander Kushner’s notes titled “Of the Worthless Sons of the World”.
“Literary Critique” contains an article by Lev Anninsky on Georgy Vladimov’s new novel and an article by Vladimir Novikov written as a letter to Yury Tynyanov.
In “Book Review” Mark Lipovetsky reviews Lyudmila Petrushevskaya’s Collected Stories; Alyana Zlobina — a new story by Yury Maletsky; Elena Tikhomirova — a newly published novel by Gayto Gazdanov; Irina Surat — Andrey Bitov’s book about Pushkin.
In “Editorial Mail” there is a polemic article by Vladimir Trostnikov, “└The Red-Brown”: a Label or Reality?”.
