DENIS GUTZKO. Beta-Male. A novel.
“Marina Nikitichna made out her son at the balcony and knitted her brows: I wish you’d see what amusing things took place here!.. Topilin knew that she understands everything. Among all people she is the one who knows best of all: Life amounts to the deeds. Or the deed – the only significant one, if it’s sufficiently firm and steady to sustain the whole life. She realized it in due time. Her buddies will never realize it”. The protagonist of the novel will realize it late. But he will and will accomplish his deed.
POETRY
Along with the poems of the well-known poets GENNADIJ RUSAKOV, LARISA MILLER and GRIGORIJ MARK, the regular authors of our magazine, we present poetical collections of STANISLAV LIVINSKIJ from Stavropol and Armenian poet GRANT ALEKSANYAN who appear at our pages for the first time.
RENAT BEKKIN. The Journey of Russians Into Islam.
The article of the scholar and man of letters Renat Bekkin is about the Russians who profess Mohammedianism.
THE CRITIQUE SECTION
“It’s ten years now since Volodya Kornilov has passed away. By the efforts of his wife and friends his two-volume edition “As Long as They Cry Over Poems” is published as well as some collections in literary magazines, the advanced newspapers found the place for memoirs about him. Dead lion is not frightful. But nobody seems to feel responsible for the deepest trauma done to the poet’s soul, for his shortened lifetime”. Both the memoir article of TAMARA GIRMUNSKAYA and the reviews of “The Book Shelf” section are focused on the hero – whether it’s a real person (Bella Akhmadulina, Audrey Hepburn, Mikhail Lomonosov) or some literary character.
