FARID NAGIM. Technique of Trading. A play.
“DN” doesn’t publish plays. It’s a rule. But rules according to the wide-known popular wisdom are to be proved from time to time by exceptions which is exactly what the magazine does presenting for the readers’ judgment the play by Farid Nagim. Why is it this particular text that we have chosen to prove the rule? First because this is “a play for reading”. Second — because it is tremendously amusing.
NESTAN KVINIKADZE. Short stories.
The young Georgian author Nestan (Nene) Kvinikadze does not take part in literary competitions and does not cooperate with publishing houses. She owns a publishing house of her own. She is also the editor-in-chief of the English-Georgian public magazine “Focus”, an author for the magazine “Anabechdy” (“Imprint”) and a producer of talk-show for the TV-company “Rustavy-2”. What is the secret of her popularity? To this question she herself answers: “Sorrow and lipstick”.

In these new poems by A. Revich there are perceptible relief “displacements of the epoch”, its incurable wounds blocking all the life’s ways on which locomotives are wailing themselves hoarse and echelons hammering themselves hysterical. And meanwhile in towns and cities with yellow windows our kinsfolk and our beloved are still alive…
“The Place of Book Is Next to Bread” — materials of the round-table discussion “The North Caucasus: Literature and Reality”, that “DN” has conducted in Grozniy-city (Chechnya). The participants — men of letters from almost all the North Caucasian regions — were discussing relationships between the writer and authorities, between national literatures, problems of mutual translations. Review of the writers’ forum is supplemented with the article by Leonid Terakopyan “Lessons of Chechen” — about the main tendencies in the Chechen literature and the most bright works of today’s Chechen authors.

In his article the author is reconstructing the events preceding the World War II and basing on the wide-known facts, materials and documents appraises the real contribution of various European countries into the fight against Nazi Germany.
