SUBKHAT AFLATUNI. Lottery “Justice”. A novel.
Not so long ago a young author from Uzbekistan Subkhat Aflatuni brought us his “ Tashkent’s Novel” which, published in “DN”, won the first “Russian Prize” (2005). After that we have published his charming long short story “Brief Is the Night”. Now we hope that the new novel by S.Aflatuni will be a pleasure both for Russian readers and readers from “ neighbouring” and “distant” abroad who, like in good old times, are craving for justice.
DENIS GUTZKO. Pokemon’s Day. A long short story.
Denis Gutzko is the winner of the Booker Prize 2005, our regular and welcome author. His new long short story is bitter, merciless, witty and makes to fall to thinking if all of us happen to be sometimes, somewhat, somehow… pokemons.
ANATOLIJ TZIRULNIKOV. New Antiquity.
Region of Vologda, Tatarstan, Buriatia…Through out-of-the-way corners these Russian provinces takes us the tireless traveler Anatolij Tzirulnikov and it turns out that they are not so much out-of-the-way, that there are many things there which there is no harm for capital cities to learn, that there may be antiquities which are more conformable to our days than some fashionable novelties.
VALENTIN KURBATOV. Valentin Rasputin — Reading Through the Years.
It’s reading “through the years” indeed. On the eve of the writer’s jubilee V. Kurbatov is rereading Rasputin’s books at the background of life experience and spiritual realities of the last two decades of Russian History. “He is telling just what we are thinking about but, intimidated by the public opinion, do not dare to express — that we are, yes, full (though not all of us) and have right to publish whatever we like, but about protection of the main things — the earth and our souls — we do not even try to mention”.
